The Ride

BEST OF THE OREGON COAST RIDE

Saturday, July 19

Organized and led by:

"DaFrog" VROC # 1426

Introduction

Having lived with the Oregon Coast in my backyard for nearly 20 years, I can assure you that it is one of the most beautiful and amazing places in the world ….., on a sunny day!

Prepare for the weather

I am hoping that on this ride, it will be just that kind of day! However, you will need to be prepared. I have been lucky, and have ridden this stretch of Highway 101 with no windshield, wearing jeans and a T-Shirt in 80 degree temperatures. But as often, I’ve needed to dress for cool, foggy, damp weather, even in the middle of summer.

Ride departure details

This ride is scheduled for Saturday, July 19th. We will meet for a short Rider’s Meeting in front of the main office at Capt. John’s Motel at 8:30 am. The ride is approximately 185 miles, and will take 6 - 8 hours, including lunch and featured stops.

Lunch

While the entire Oregon Coast is pretty, you will see, from 2 perspectives, 30 miles going north and 30 miles going south, what I, and many others, consider to be the best of the Oregon Coast. We will make one stop before lunch, at about 75 miles, and then ride onto Waldport for lunch.

After Lunch

After lunch, we will stop for ‘photo ops’ at Devil’s Churn, the Heceta Head Lighthouse and then enjoy a ‘front row seat’ to a very unique sport, loved by thousands of Oregonians. If you like Tractor Pulls, Hill Climbs, Dirt Bike Riding and Demolition Derbies, you won’t want to miss the Oregon Sand Dunes!!

Thanks Dave!

For Logics and Safety reasons, this will be an ‘open’ ride. Everyone will be given a map, with the featured stops marked. Depending on the number of people who want to ride this, we can break up into 3 main groups or you can ride it with your own group.
